Plainfield library adds Facebook page for its genealogy collection

The Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library has added a Facebook page devoted to its genealogy collection. The page will include items from the Indiana Room's extensive photo collection, as well as tidbits of history about Plainfield and Hendricks County.

Danville library's genealogy group to discuss publishing your family history

The Danville library's genealogy group, the Genealogy Nuts, will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, August 9 at 1 pm. The meeting will be held both virtually - via Zoom - and in-person for up to 30 attendees. Ron Darrah will talk about "Publishing Your Family History," where you will learn how to turn all that collected data into a readable family history without breaking the bank. Darrah has been a genealogical researcher for over 30 years and a lecturer since 1996. Currently, he is the Secretary/Newsletter Editor for the Genealogical Society of Marion County and is the Corresponding Secretary and Fellow of the Indiana Genealogical Society.

Danville library's genealogy group to discuss kitchen heirlooms

The Danville library's genealogy group, the Genealogy Nuts, will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, June 14 at 1 pm. The meeting will be held both virtually - via Zoom - and in-person for a limited number of attendees (10). The Indiana Room's Cindy Rutledge will talk about "Heirlooms From The Kitchen". "The heart of the home is the kitchen" is a familiar quotation. Many warm memories are associated with this room. The kitchen also contains many precious heirlooms that some may overlook. This presentation will look at kitchen heirlooms and how they may help with your genealogy research.

Danville library's genealogy group to meet in-person and virtually in April

 The Danville library's genealogy group, the Genealogy Nuts, will hold their monthly meeting on Monday, April 12 at 1 pm. The meeting will be held both virtually - via Zoom - and in-person for a limited number of attendees (4). The Indiana Room's Cindy Rutledge will talk about "Transcribing Historic Documents" - which are wonderful original sources, but can be hard to read. Cindy will give tips on ways to make it easier.
