An index of the New Winchester students in grades 1-12 in 1951 has been added to the Hendricks County GenWeb site. This index was compiled from the New Winchester High School 1951 yearbook, The Warrior.

List of Liberty Township landowners in 1911 added

An index of the landowners in Liberty Township in 1911 has been added to the Hendricks County GenWeb site. This index (which includes the towns of Belleville and Cartersburg) was compiled from the Hendricks County Assessor's collection of plat books and lists the Congressional Township, Range and Section that the land was located in.

The Hendricks County Government's Archive has digital files of the plat books for scattered years between 1852 and 1940.

Hendricks County divorce index 1958-1959 added

An index to divorce cases settled in Hendricks County during 1958-1959 has been added to the Hendricks County GenWeb site. Entries were added from Hendricks County Circuit Court Order Book 106 (6 February 1958 - 5 March 1959).

The Hendricks County Government's Archive has digital files of the circuit court order books for the years 1824-1959.

List of Cascade High School students in 1967 added

An index of the students in grades 7-12 at Cascade High School in Clayton in 1967 has been added to the Hendricks County GenWeb site. This index was compiled from the Cascade High School 1967 yearbook, Colossus.

NOTE: Cascade High School opened in the fall of 1964 as the result of the consolidation of the high schools of Clayton, Amo and Stilesville.

Hendricks County marriage applications index 1949-1950 added

An index to Hendricks County Marriage Applications Book 28 (which covers 5 March 1949 through 27 May 1950) has been added to the Hendricks County GenWeb site. The index now covers all 28 volumes of the marriage application books (1 May 1905 through 27 May 1950).

ABOUT THESE RECORDS: Beginning in May 1905, Indiana law required the recording of marriage applications, which included biographical details about the bride and the groom, as well as their parents. In Hendricks County, the information from these applications was kept in a separate set of books from the marriage record from May 1905 until June 1950. Then beginning in June 1950, the application information was recorded in the same set of books as the marriage record.

The Hendricks County Government's Archive has digital files of all of the marriage application books (1905-1950).

FOUND: Lizton High School 1925 class photo

This photo of the Lizton High School class of 1925 was recently found on eBay and has been donated to the Archives of the Plainfield Public Library for permanent storage. It includes the photos of these members of the senior class:

Plainfield genealogy group to discuss DNA testing

The Family History Hounds genealogy group will meet on Thursday, June 4 from 1 to 3 pm at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. The meeting will be held upstairs in the library's West meeting room. Steve Smith, from the Danville Public Library, will give a presentation on family history DNA and how it can impact your genealogy research.
