Alonzo EARL Adopted (1896)

As mentioned in Hendricks County Civil Order Book Volume 40 (May 1896 - March 1897), in November 1896 William M. and Susan Dillon filed a petition to adopt Alonzo Earl, a child born 12 April 1875, who had been living with them since 23 June 1886. The child's parents were dead and he had no known living relatives. The petition was granted and the child's name was changed to Alonzo Dillon.

Sarah (GRIMES) DILLON dies in Cincinnati (1927)

from the Plainfield Messenger (Plainfield, Indiana) - issue of March 2, 1927 - page 6, column 5:

GOOD WOMAN GONE
Many in this county were saddened to learn of the death on Feb. 20, of Sarah Grimes Dillon, at her home in Cincinnati. Funeral and interment at that place on the 22nd. She was the daughter of Elias and Sarah Phillips Grimes, and was born near Coatesville, May 14, 1858. All the younger years of her life were spent in that community. She was of a kind and lovable nature, and all with whom she came in contact felt the influence of a sweet Christian character. To know her was to love her. Besides her husband, John Dillon, she is survived by three brothers, John W. Grimes, of Long Beach, Cal.; Nelson Grimes, of Newton, Iowa, and Samuel B. Grimes, of Zionsville, and one sister, Susannah Kendall, of Indianapolis, and a number of other relatives. Surely a good woman has claimed her reward.
