According to a Hendricks County Probate Court docket sheet, in January 1952 a petition was filed by Virl E. Stanley and Iva Mae Stanley (case #7286) to adopt Della Gene Skaggs, an adult. The petition was granted, and her name was changed to Della Gene Stanley Skaggs.
