According to a legal notice, in May 1982 Ronald L. Bailey filed a petition in Hancock County Circuit Court (case #CJ 82-42) to adopt William Allyn Cofer, a minor. His biological father, Lawrence Cofer, was listed as whereabouts unknown. The case was scheduled to be heard in Hancock County court 30 days after the notice was published.
