According to a Hendricks County Probate Court docket sheet, in November 1933 John W. Hanger filed a petition (case #6055) to adopt Mary Katherine Boxley, a minor child. Her mother, Elizabeth Hanger, filed her written consent, and the petition was granted - the child's name was changed to Mary Katherine Hanger.
