Adoption of Ora Olena HICKS (1919)

As mentioned in Hendricks County Probate Order Book 41 (December 1918 - September 1919), in May 1919 John Quincy Hicks and Ora Olena Hicks, who were living near Plainfield, filed a petition to adopt a toddler, also named Ora Olena Hicks. The child was born on December 6, 1917, the illegitimate daughter of Ivel F. Riggs, who had been living with the Hicks family. Riggs gave her consent for the adoption, and the petition was granted, with the child's name remaining the same as it was before.

Lewis RIGGS pleads guilty to burglary (1906)

As mentioned in Hendricks County Circuit Court Civil Order Book Volume 51 (March 1906 - February 1907), in September 1906 Lewis Riggs pled guilty to the crime of burglary (case #4563). Because he was only 14 years old, his sentence was suspended.
