Death of George JORDAN (1903)

George Jordan, aged 45, living with his wife and two sons on North Center Street was found in the Friends church grounds at 12:30 Sunday night in an unconscious condition. Some young men were attracted to the place by groans. He was taken home but died at 3:30 am without regaining consciousness. About a year ago he had a severe attack of erysipelas of the head and since he has had severe headaches for which he took various medicines for relief. It is supposed that in a spell of temporary insanity caused by intense pain, he took morphine for relief and took an overdose. The funeral was Wednesday under the direction of the Odd Fellows.
