Plainfield Library To Host Work Session for Probate Records
If you are interested in historic Hendricks County records, you are invited to stop by the Plainfield Public Library (1120 Stafford Rd., Plainfield IN 46168) on Saturday, October 13, 2012 any time from 10 am to 4 pm to help unfold and organize the contents of Hendricks County probate records from the 1800's. This work session is part of the Indiana Genealogical Society's ongoing project to preserve and digitize the contents of Hendricks County probate packets, which are stored in the basement of the Hendricks County courthouse in Danville.
At this work session, you will be unfolding the documents and then placing them in folders. You can stop by at any time during the day and stay for as little or as long as you want. Bring a lunch with you or go out for lunch at one of the many area restaurants.
Since this project began in 2009, over 2,500 of the probate records have been worked on, and over 600 of them are available online as digitized files.
To help us plan space, please register with the Plainfield library - you can either register online through their Events Calendar, or contact the library's Indiana Room - phone (317) 839-6602 extension 2114.
