New Ross - Dr. Oscar Clyde Shockley, 68 year old veterinarian in this community for many years died Sunday in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been seriously ill since last Wednesday and hospitalized since Thursday. Dr. Shockley was a 1917 graduate of Indiana Veterinarian College and served in the US Army during WWI. He was a member of the New Ross Christian Church, Danville Masonic Lodge, Crawfordsville Knights Templar, Indianapolis Shrine, Sixth District Veterinarian Association and National Veterinarian Association. He also was past president of Indiana Veterinarian Association. He was born April 13, 1894 in Hendricks County a son of Alfred and Eldora Clark Shockley. He was twice married. He first married Geraldine Ann Leak May 1, 1915 at Danville. She died June 23, 1955. On March 2, 1957 he married Ruhama Dean at North Salem. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Quentin of Indianapolis and Oscar, Jr of Rockville; a brother, Herbert of Pittsboro; sister, Mrs. Lida Shook of San Antonio and 3 grandchildren. Body was taken to the Walker Funeral Home, Jamestown where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the K of P cemetery at Lizton.
