According to a legal notice, in August 1981 George Hodge filed a petition in the Hendricks County Superior Court (case # A 81-28) to adopt minor children Jerry Lee Clark, II and Jami Irene Clark. Their biological father, Jerry Lee Clark, was listed as having abandoned and deserted them, that he could not be found. The case was scheduled to be heard 30 days after publication of the legal notice.

Her biological father, Robert Joseph Gates, was said to have abandoned and deserted her, and his whereabouts were unknown. The petition was scheduled to be heard in court 30 days after the legal notice had been published.

Walter CLARK pleads guilty to embezzlement (1906)

As mentioned in Hendricks County Circuit Court Civil Order Book Volume 51 (March 1906 - February 1907), in September 1906 Walter J. Clark pled guilty to the crime of embezzlement (case #4595). He was fined $10 and sentenced to 1 day in Hendricks County Jail.

Adkins CLARK obituary (1915)

ADKINS CLARK DEAD
Adkins Clark, 91 years old, died at the County Home Monday. He had been an inmate of the institution for about four years. His death was due to age. A son, Silas Clark, of Amo, took charge of the body and the remains were taken to that place for burial, Tuesday.

Memorial for Guilford A. McQUOWN (1890)

Hendricks County Civil Order Book Volume 34 (May 1890 - March 1891) includes an entry commemorating the death of lawyer Guilford A. McQuown:

"Guilford A. McQuown was admitted to the bar of Hendricks Circuit Court on the 17th day of March 1887, and died at his home in Shelby County, Indiana, on the 18th day of November 1890, and for a year and a half before his death he had been unable to practice his chosen profession on account of the sickness which terminated his life.

As a member of the bar he conducted himself so as to win the admiration and praise of all. He was industrious, honest and capable in the highest degree and had a most laudable ambition.

As a friend he was lovable and loyal. As a citizen he was on the right side of every moral question, and had an exalted admiration for the majesty of the law.

Therefore be it resolved, that in his death we have sustained a great loss, and that we extend our sympathies to his family and friends in their bereavement."

Leonard LITTLE Found Guilty of Adultery (1934)

LITTLE GETS PRISON TERM ON CHARGE OF ADULTERY
Leonard Little pleaded guilty to adultery, Monday, before Judge A.J. Stevenson and received a one to ten year sentence. Cora Clark pleaded not guilty when arraigned last week. Mrs. Clark was taken to the Coleman hospital in Indianapolis, Friday, by Sheriff Pounds.

Mrs. Clark and Little were arrested last week after they had been living together in a farm house rented and furnished by Carl Perkins of North Salem, without his permission.

Joseph J. DUNGAN of Union Township Dies (1931)

FORMERLY OF UNION DIES AT HOME AT MORRISTOWN
Joseph J. Dungan, formerly a resident of Union Township, died, Friday, at his home in Morristown. The funeral was Monday with burial at Greenwood.

He was a brother of the late James A. Dungan, of Danville, and his widow, who survives, was Miss Bessie A. Halfaker, of Pittsboro. They were married December 16, 1886. Four daughters and four sons survive. The daughters are Mrs. W.C. Deckard, of Mitchell; Mrs. E.S. Taylor, of Westville, Ohio; Mrs. Robert R. Lawson, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. C.S. Sauers, of Greenwich, Ohio. The sons are Dr. G.H. Dungan, of Urbana, Ill.; John U. Dungan, of Lockland, Ohio; James W. Dungan and Charles W.G. Dungan, of Indianapolis. A sister, Mrs. John S. Clark, of Greenwood, also survives.

Oscar Clyde Shockley obituary (1962)

New Ross - Dr. Oscar Clyde Shockley, 68 year old veterinarian in this community for many years died Sunday in Robert Long Hospital, Indianapolis. He had been seriously ill since last Wednesday and hospitalized since Thursday. Dr. Shockley was a 1917 graduate of Indiana Veterinarian College and served in the US Army during WWI. He was a member of the New Ross Christian Church, Danville Masonic Lodge, Crawfordsville Knights Templar, Indianapolis Shrine, Sixth District Veterinarian Association and National Veterinarian Association. He also was past president of Indiana Veterinarian Association. He was born April 13, 1894 in Hendricks County a son of Alfred and Eldora Clark Shockley. He was twice married. He first married Geraldine Ann Leak May 1, 1915 at Danville. She died June 23, 1955. On March 2, 1957 he married Ruhama Dean at North Salem. Survivors include his wife, two sons, Quentin of Indianapolis and Oscar, Jr of Rockville; a brother, Herbert of Pittsboro; sister, Mrs. Lida Shook of San Antonio and 3 grandchildren. Body was taken to the Walker Funeral Home, Jamestown where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be in the K of P cemetery at Lizton.

NEWSPAPER TIDBIT: Former Danville Resident Dies in Bloomington (1920)

FORMER CITIZEN CALLED
Thomas J. Clark, formerly a business man of Danville, died suddenly on his farm, west of Bloomington, Sunday. The body was brought to Danville for burial in the East cemetery yesterday, there being a brief service at the grave conducted by Rev. C.C. Ford. Mr. Clark was a member of the 148th Indiana regiment. He was twice married, his first wife being buried in the East cemetery. Their daughter, Ada, died some months ago in the west. Some years ago Mr. Clark moved to Bloomington where he was elected county treasurer. Saturday he was taken ill with indigestion and his physician ordered him to remain in bed. Sunday while Mrs. Clark was out of the room, he arose from the bed and fell dead. Mr. and Mrs. John Hampton and their daughter, Mrs. Retta Adams were among those who came from Bloomington with the body.
