According to a legal notice, in October 1960 there was a petition filed by John L. Redding and Opal Redding in the Hendricks County Circuit Court to adopt Loren Eugene McKinley, a minor. His biological father, Loren E. McKinley, was listed as whereabouts unknown, that he had not been heard from for more than 6 years. The case was scheduled to be heard in court on December 7, 1960.
