According to a newspaper article, in June 1985 First National Bank of Coatesville (which was created in 1906) and The Danville State Bank (which was chartered in 1904) announced plans to merge. Douglas K. Phillips, acting president of First National Bank of Coatesville, and Harold E. Hiser, the president of The Danville State Bank, announced the merger plans. The boards of First National Bank of Coatesville (chaired by Dr. John Ellett, Jr.) and the Danville State Bank (chaired by Otto N. Frenzel, III) voted unanimously in favor of the merger. Combined the 2 banks had 7 locations in Hendricks County.
According to an October 10, 1985 newspaper article, this merger became effective on October 1, 1985. The merged bank was to be known as Mid State Bank of Hendricks County.
