According to a legal notice, in July 1983 Charles Robert Williams, II and Troy Allen Williams filed a petition in the Hendricks County Circuit Court (case # C 7 83-248) to change their names to Chad Michael Carroll and Troy Allen Carroll, respectively. Because they were under the age of 21, the petition was filed on their behalf by Vickie L. Carroll. The petition was scheduled to be heard in court on September 9, 1983.

Death of Violet Naomi (SOOTS) LEAK WILLIAMS (1974)

NORTH SALEM – Mrs. Violet Naomi Williams, 57, died today in Hendricks County Hospital at Danville where she had been a patient since June 22. She had been employed by Allison Division of General Motors Corp. at Indianapolis, Curtis Wright at Indianapolis and the Golden Manor Nursing Home at Ladoga. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church of God at New Maysville. Born August 16, 1916, at North Salem, she was a daughter of Earl and Hazel Kersey Soots. She married Robert R. Leak in 1935. He died in 1970. She married Earl Williams on July 21, 1972. He survives. Other survivors include her mother, Mrs. Hazel Bonames of North Salem; a son, Robert Leak of Rt. 2, Roachdale; a daughter, Sharon Nichols of Connersville; a sister, Betty Ross of Plainfield; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two children, two sisters and a brother. Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Porter Funeral Home here with the Rev. Kenneth Clark officiating. Burial will be in New Maysville Cemetery. Friends may call after 2 p.m. Wednesday.

Mary Jane, 3-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Williams, was taken to the Riley Hospital Sunday where it is reported she is suffering from polio. The child became ill last week and complained of a weakness in her legs. Mr. Williams is employed at the E.J. Roberts garage and the family live on the Robert Keller farm.

Zerilda WILLIAMS Delivers Illegitimate Child (1848)
As mentioned in Hendricks County Circuit Court Civil Order Book Volume 5 (October 1846 - October 1849), in March 1848 Zerilda Williams filed a complaint of bastardy against Levi Coleman. The complaint stated that on 25 January 1848 she gave birth to a male bastard child and that Levi Coleman was the father. In September 1848, Zerilda Hamilton (formerly Zerilda Williams) along with Samuel Hamilton, signed an affidavit dismissing the case.

Marvin Williams filed suit for a divorce from his wife, Jewell Williams, Friday, in the local circuit court. The plaintiff alleges the defendant to have been quarrelsome and to have had an ungovernable temper. The Williams were married in July, 1931, and separated in June 1932. They have no children.

NORTH SALEM
Mollie Lee Williams, 87, a resident here many years, died in her home at 5:30 p.m. after an illness of three weeks. She was born in Maysville, Ky., Dec. 25, 1875, to William and Martha Carpenter Bateman, and in 1900 married William W. Williams in Kentucky. He survives with a son, Foster of West Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Bertha Johnson of Greenfield, Mrs. Mabel Kisner of North Salem and Mrs. Dorothy McMullen of Indianapolis; a sister, Emma Bateman of North Salem, and 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. A son and daughter are deceased. Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Friday at the North Salem Methodist Church, of which the deceased was a member, with Rev. Delmar Smith and Rev. Ross Marrs officiating. Interment will be in West Newton. Friends may call at the Porter Funeral Home after 6 p.m. Wednesday.
