15 Hendricks County probate packets from 1847 through 1901 digitized

An 1862 application for letters of administration on the estate of Mary Bell.

The Indiana Genealogical Society's website recently added 15 digitized probate packets for Hendricks County for free viewing.

This batch of probate packets spans 1847 through 1901 (as well as a couple of stray packets from 1913, 1917 and 1930). They were digitized by volunteers at the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne.

Clara (BIDDLE) BRADY Seeks Annulment (1925)

from The Republican (Danville, Indiana) - issue of Thursday, October 1, 1925 - page 1, column 4:

FRAUDULENT MARRIAGE ALLEGATION OF COMPLAINT
Mrs. Clara Z. Brady wants her marriage with James M. Brady annulled, alleging that at the time of their pretended marriage, Aug. 2, 1925, defendant was a married man.

Plaintiff alleges that defendant represented himself to be a single man and believing such false representations to be true, and believing his name to be James M. Brady, she and he were married. She alleges that at the time defendant had an undivorced wife living in Chicago, that her name was Nellie Bouer and that defendant's true name is James M. Bouer. Plaintiff asks also that her name, Clara Z. Biddle, be restored.

Guynn Cemetery Association Formed in Liberty Township (1858)

As mentioned in Hendricks County Circuit Court Civil Order Book Volume 8 (March 1858 - August 1861), in October 1858 articles of association for the Guynn Cemeterial Association were filed with the county. J.O. Riley donated the land for the burial grounds, and the following people all paid $50 or $100 for their membership in the association:

NOTE: According to the Plainfield library's Hendricks County cemeteries index, Spring Hill Cemetery in Liberty Township (north of Cartersburg) is also known as Guynn Cemetery or Moon Cemetery.
