According to a legal notice, in January 1969 there was a petition filed by Warren F. Taylor and Theresa Belle Taylor in the Hendricks County Superior Court (case # A 68-37) to adopt minor children Joseph William Hardin and Scott Lee Hardin. Their biological father, Joseph Richard Hardin, was listed as whereabouts unknown. The case was scheduled to be heard in court on February 28, 1969.

NOTE: Marlene May Stitt, Thomas Milton Stitt, III and Mark Allen Stitt were also listed to be adopted.

WIFE GRANTED DIVORCE
Stella Hardin was granted a divorce from Maurice Hardin, Tuesday, in the local circuit court by Judge A.J. Stevenson. The custody of their six-year-old child was given to the plaintiff and the defendant was ordered to pay $10 per month for the support of the child. The defendant failed to appear and the divorce was granted by default.
