Avon bank gets first drive-up window in Hendricks County (1958)

According to a newspaper article, on October 15, 1958, the Danville State Bank opened a branch in Avon (it already had a branch in Clayton). The bank was on US 36, at the site of the former Avon Community Building. Among the features it offered was service through a drive-up window, which was the first in the county.

Hursel C. Disney, Mrs. Bess Miller, Mrs. Crawford Taylor of Danville and Mrs. Arthur Davis of Avon were to be the employees.

Adoption of Infant TAYLOR (1962)

According to a legal notice, in February 1962 there was a petition filed by Keith M. Kearns and Virginia M. Kearns in the Hendricks County Circuit Court (case # A 62-3) to adopt infant Taylor. The infant's biological father, Donald Taylor, was listed as whereabouts unknown. The case was scheduled to be heard in court on April 14, 1962.

Adoption of Joseph William HARDIN and Scott Lee HARDIN (1969)

According to a legal notice, in January 1969 there was a petition filed by Warren F. Taylor and Theresa Belle Taylor in the Hendricks County Superior Court (case # A 68-37) to adopt minor children Joseph William Hardin and Scott Lee Hardin. Their biological father, Joseph Richard Hardin, was listed as whereabouts unknown. The case was scheduled to be heard in court on February 28, 1969.

NOTE: Marlene May Stitt, Thomas Milton Stitt, III and Mark Allen Stitt were also listed to be adopted.

Marriage of William B. SPURLOCK and Linda TAYLOR declared void (1970)

As mentioned in Hendricks County Circuit Court Order Book 116 (January 1969 - March 1970), in February 1970, the court heard this case (case # C 70-9). The case showed that when William B. Spurlock and Linda Taylor applied for a Hendricks County marriage license on April 25, 1964, they did so with a birth certificate that showed the bride's name as being Brenda Sue Morris. They were subsequently married on May 2, 1964, by Center Township Justice of the Peace R.B. Pickard. They had 2 children together, Connie Regina Spurlock (age 2) and Kathy Lynn Spurlock (age 1), and at the time of this court case, Linda was pregnant with another child.

The court declared their 1964 marriage to be void, since it was given under a fraudulent identity, but all the children from this marriage were declared to be legitimate.

Joseph J. DUNGAN of Union Township Dies (1931)

FORMERLY OF UNION DIES AT HOME AT MORRISTOWN
Joseph J. Dungan, formerly a resident of Union Township, died, Friday, at his home in Morristown. The funeral was Monday with burial at Greenwood.

He was a brother of the late James A. Dungan, of Danville, and his widow, who survives, was Miss Bessie A. Halfaker, of Pittsboro. They were married December 16, 1886. Four daughters and four sons survive. The daughters are Mrs. W.C. Deckard, of Mitchell; Mrs. E.S. Taylor, of Westville, Ohio; Mrs. Robert R. Lawson, of Indianapolis, and Mrs. C.S. Sauers, of Greenwich, Ohio. The sons are Dr. G.H. Dungan, of Urbana, Ill.; John U. Dungan, of Lockland, Ohio; James W. Dungan and Charles W.G. Dungan, of Indianapolis. A sister, Mrs. John S. Clark, of Greenwood, also survives.
