DEATH OF URBAN HEDGE
Urban Hedge, a former citizen of North Salem, passed away in Indianapolis, Friday evening, after an illness of seven weeks, from a complication of diseases. Funeral services were held at the home at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon, and interment was in Fairview Cemetery. Mr. Hedge was the youngest of two sons of James Carr and Emma Gill Hedge. He was born near North Salem, November 2, 1889. His age at the time of his death was 39 years, 7 months and 12 days. About 1905 he with his parents moved to Lebanon, where on January 28, 1907, he was united in marriage to Olive Mount, who survives him. To this union four children were born, Mrs. Lucille Hiser, Marie, Frances and Ethel Mae. The father, James Carr, of Lebanon, a brother, Allen, of Crawfordsville, and two aunts also survive.

DEATH OF FORMER STUDENT
Old friends in Danville have been grieved to learn of the death on June 10 of Mrs. M.W. Ruckle in St. Louis following an operation. Mrs. Ruckle will be remembered as Miss Leota Fuqua and a very popular student here in 1884-5. She graduated with the scientific class of 1885. She leaves a husband and grown son and daughter. Interment was at her old home in Casey, Ill.

Warren Moody killed by car in Indianapolis (1929)

CHILD KILLED
Struck by an automobile while on his way to a grocery store, Warren Moody, 8 years old, 719 North Street, was killed Sunday afternoon on West Washington Street, Indianapolis. With his brother, Samuel, 10 years old, the Moody boy was sent to a neighborhood grocery store on an errand. The boy was waiting an opportunity to cross Washington Street and suddenly darted into the street directly into the path of the car driven by John Eaton. Warren was caught on the bumper and carried several feet before he fell onto the pavement. He died several minutes later. He was the son of Ernest Moody, a former resident of this community. His mother died a short time ago. Surviving besides the father and brother, Samuel, are four sisters, Joyce Marie, Edna Bernice and Nema Olga, at home, and Mrs. Alma Miller. Funeral services were held at the home at 10 o'clock, Tuesday morning. Interment in the cemetery near Barnard.

MART WILSON IS STRICKEN WITHIN MONTH OF MARRIAGE
Mart Wilson, age 69, died at the home of his mother-in-law, Mrs. Nellie Kreigh, West Main Street, Saturday night, from paralysis. He was stricken shortly after he and Mrs. Wilson had come home from town. A physician was immediately called but Mr. Wilson lived only about thirty minutes. The funeral was Tuesday from Shirley Bros.' undertaking parlors, Indianapolis, with burial in Shelby County.
Mr. Wilson and Miss Josephine Kreigh were married August 11. She and Mr. Wilson's son, James Wilson, of Chicago, survive.
Mr. Wilson was a well known horse trainer. Since his youth he had been engaged in training trotting and pacing horses.

John BATES released from Indiana State Prison in Michigan City (1861)

John Bates was 18 years old on September 27, 1858 when he was sentenced in Hendricks County to a 3 year-term in Indiana State Prison for grand larceny. He was initially sent to the Indiana State Prison in Jeffersonville; in 1861, when a second state prison was opened in Michigan City, he was transferred there. He served all but 21 days of his sentence, being discharged from Michigan City on September 6, 1861.

Plainfield genealogy group to discuss divorce records
The Family History Hounds genealogy group will meet on Thursday, May 5 from 1 to 3 pm at the Plainfield-Guilford Township Public Library. The meeting will be held upstairs in the library's meeting rooms.
