Town in Clay Township Changes Its Name (1850)

Acts of 1850, Chapter 275 [approved January 14, 1850]
An act to change the name of the Town of Springfield, in Hendricks County
Section 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of Indiana, That the name of the town of Springfield, in Hendricks County, State of Indiana, be, and the same is hereby changed to that of Springtown.
Section 2. That hereafter said town shall be known and designated by the said name of Springtown, and that all business for or on behalf of said town shall be done and transacted by the said name of Springtown, whether corporate or otherwise.
Section 3. That none of the rights, titles, privileges, or interests of any of the citizens of said town shall be in anywise affected by said change, but the same shall be held and enjoyed to all intents and purposes, as though said change had not been made.
Section 4. This act to take affect and be in force from and after its passage.

[NOTE: Springtown was in Clay Township, north of Amo]
