Hendricks County votes on consolidating school districts (1962)

According to a newspaper article, in the primary held in May 1962, Hendricks County voters had rejected a referendum to consolidate the schools in 5 townships - Center Township, Marion Township, Eel River Township, Middle Township and Union Townships - into one corporation, called the Northwest Community School Corporation.

A new referendum was put on the ballot for the general election in November 1962. It would consolidate the schools in Center Township and Marion Township into one corporation to be called the Danville Community School Corporation. According to a November 8, 1962 article, this referendum passed.

There was another referendum on the ballot that would consolidate the schools in Eel River Township, Union Township and Middle Township into one corporation to be called the North Hendricks Community School Corporation. According to a November 8, 1962 article, this referendum failed.
