According to a legal notice, in May 1956 Clinton Holman Jarrett filed a petition in the Hendricks County Circuit Court to adopt minor child Bonita Jane Cooper. Her biological father, John H. Cooper, was listed as whereabouts unknown. The case was scheduled to be heard in court on July 10, 1956.
