According to a legal notice, in January 1983 Camden C. Bennett and Iris G. Bennett filed a petition in the Hendricks County Superior Court (case # A 1 83-2) to adopt minor children Roger Lee Roy and Crystal Danielle Roy. Roger Lee Roy's biological father was Roger Lee Roy; Crystal Danielle Roy's biological father was Ricky Smith; both fathers were said to have abandoned and deserted their children. The petition was scheduled to be heard in court 30 days after the legal notice had been published.
