According to a legal notice, in January 1961 there was a petition filed by James Edward McGinnis and Elizabeth C. McGinnis in the Hendricks County Circuit Court (case # 255) to adopt Margaret Louise Petro and Diana Lynn Petro. Their biological father, Richard Leroy Petro, was listed as whereabouts unknown. The case was scheduled to be heard in court on March 11, 1961.
